A mentally Challenged 23 years old woman in Amadum-Adankwame near Nfansi in the atwima Kwanwoma District, Ashanti Region, Ghana beat her 9-month-old baby boy, David Boateng, to death.
According to a report by Adom News, the mentally deranged woman identified as Esther Agyei, who is currently in Police custody at the Abuakwa District Police for interrogation claims the child died as a result of some strange illness.
“The woman told the police that her child was sick of a sickness known as anemia but the husband refused to give her money to buy drugs which led to the sudden demise of her child died” Kwesi Debrah reported.
Residents told police that the baby was beaten, added to the malnutrition which contributed to his death.
Body of the baby has since been deposited at Afari community hospital morgue for autopsy.
